Pel’s Post is our award-winning eco-luxe property here at Rare Earth Retreats. With just four suites, you can stay with a group of friends or your family and have the entire place to yourself, including your own chef, game-viewing vehicle and field guide. With views extending as far as the eye can see over the Eden of Kruger, there’s simply no better place to unwind and relax with those you love. Here are six reasons we think Pel’s Post should be your next getaway.
PERSONAL TREATMENT
Pel’s Post is designed for a family or a group of friends to take over completely, if you wish. With only four suites, accommodating a maximum of eight guests, it is ideal for anyone looking for total privacy or for that special place to celebrate a wonderful occasion. Sundowners in magical locations, spa treatments, drinks around a crackling fire at night, any requests big or small… Pel’s Post defines a once-in-a-lifetime bespoke safari experience. Should you be travelling in a smaller group, you are also welcome to stay at Pel’s Post and book on a per room, per night basis.
EDEN OF KRUGER
Situated in the wildest and most remote part of the Kruger National Park, our 24 000 hectare concession boasts as much as 80% of the park’s total biodiversity, occurring in an area only slightly more than 2% of its total size. The region is well known for its abundant, year-round birdlife, with over 350 recorded bird species in the area and an impressive list of specials.
AN ECO-CONSTRUCTION
Pel’s Post was built with the intention of having as minimal an impact on the environment as possible and is considered by many to be the first eco-construction of its kind in South Africa. The lodge is entirely solar powered and where we can make an environmentally positive choice, we have done so in order to decrease any footprint we leave on our piece of heaven up in the north of the Kruger Park.
CHILDREN’S WONDERLAND
Child-friendly game drives, interactive cooking classes and, of course, the chance to learn more about the incredible animals and birds we have on ‘our doorstep’, we want every single member of the family to have an unforgettable experience with us and welcome kids aged eight and up.
TREE-TOP CHARM
Perched high on a hill above the Luvuvhu River, Pel’s Post boasts unprecedented views from every corner. All spaces have been designed and fitted with retractable, remote-controlled screens – offering uninterrupted, panoramic views of the Luvuvhu River below. Simply press a button and lift the screens to reveal the beautiful sunrise.
EXPLORE ON FOOT
While any safari in South Africa is a magical experience, if you truly want to experience the bushveld and get an unparalleled perspective, go on foot. Pel’s Post is famous for its specialist walking safaris, which allow you to experience the magnificent surroundings ‘up close and personal’. You’ll walk through the largest fever tree forest in the Southern Hemisphere; picnic in the shade of a giant baobab; learn so much about the birdlife in this part of the world and have your eyes opened to the small details – the sounds and smells of the bush that you may never have noticed before.
